CO2 Performance Ladder

To actually achieve our targets, we use the CO2 Performance Ladder in the Netherlands to test where we are and where our action points are for CO2-aware actions in our business operations and in the implementation of our projects.

VINCI and VINCI Energies’ ambition is to reduce CO2 emissions by 40% between 2018 and 2030 for scope 1 and 2. In the Netherlands, we are committed to reducing our direct emissions by 60% by 2030. The target for scope 3 is 20% in 2030 compared to 2019. We ask all our employees, managers and suppliers to contribute to this when developing plans and carrying out work. The main areas of focus are energy and fuel savings, the efficient use of materials and the use of renewable energy. We see that there are still gains to be made here in our own operations and with our customers. To achieve our objectives, we use the CO2 Performance Ladder in the Netherlands. This allows us to check where we stand and where our action points are for CO2-conscious action in our business operations, in the business units and in the execution of our projects.

4 aspects

There are four aspects to the CO2 Performance Ladder:

  • insight;
  • reduce CO2 emissions;
  • transparency (internal and external);
  • participate in CO2 reduction initiatives.

If you would like to know more about the CO2 Performance Ladder or VINCI Energies NL as a participant, take a look at the  SKAO website.

What are we doing to reduce CO2 emissions?

VINCI Energies has included the reduction of CO2 emissions in its long-term plans. How are we going to do that? Among other things by:

  • energy-saving measures in buildings and IT infrastructure, the use of alternative energy (Dutch wind energy, forestry compensated natural gas).
  • reducing the fuel consumption of the leased vehicle fleet by driving more economically and reducing the number of kilometres driven, and with hybrid working.
  • the policy in the chain, such as advice to customers in the field of energy efficiency.
  • by monitoring CO2 emissions in the business units on a quarterly basis.
  • delivering services and automation solutions that generate energy savings.
  • contracting suppliers that support our objectives.

The Energy-management action plan describes how VINCI Energies Netherlands BV puts the requirements of the CO2 Performance Ladder into practice. This is communicated and reported on internally and externally on a regular basis.
