In June 2025, the Netherlands hosted its first NATO Summit in The Hague, welcoming 45 heads of state, thousands of delegates, journalists, and global media. Due to the scale and security requirements, the event demanded a highly secure and reliable digital infrastructure. Axians, in collaboration with Cisco and Fortinet, successfully delivered the complete digital network and security foundation for the summit.
The infrastructure, deployed at the World Forum, connected thousands of devices including cameras, audiovisual systems, IT equipment, and security components through a fully Software Defined network architecture. Axians’ Network and Security Operations Centres monitored the environment continuously before and during the summit to ensure maximum performance and rapid incident response.
Despite the complexity and tight timeline, the project was completed to the highest standards. External and internal audits of the network and security systems were passed without any remarks, confirming the robustness and reliability of the solution.
Piet Fischer of the Dutch Government’s SSC-IT praised the dedication and professionalism of Axians’ specialists, noting the successful delivery of a state-of-the-art infrastructure. Axians Business Unit General Manager Ron Tetteroo highlighted that sustainability was also a key priority. After the event, the temporary infrastructure was dismantled and the equipment prepared for reuse in future projects.
Through strong collaboration between SSC-IT, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Axians, Cisco, and Fortinet, the NATO Summit’s digital backbone was delivered securely, efficiently, and sustainably supporting a globally significant event without disruption.
