Verkerk delivered an extensive renewal and modification of the building-related installations for the Westknoop project at Amsterdam Central Station. The project forms part of the major modernisation programme in and around the station.
Verkerk began the engineering and delivery of all mechanical installations required for the renovated Westknoop in 2022. This included the rainwater and foul water drainage systems, drainage of water from the track decks, the drinking water installation and all sanitary facilities. In addition, the ventilation system, cooling and heating installations, control systems and the full range of fire safety installations were designed and implemented. The gas installation and the pneumatic tube system were also adapted or renewed, fully aligned with the new layout of the station.
Jan Flikweert, Projectmanager at Verkerk: “With the handover of the Westknoop, Amsterdam Central Station is future-ready with modern installations that contribute to passenger comfort, safety and smooth circulation.”
