Boskalis, Royal IHC and Bakker Sliedrecht SEAWAY mega-dredger collaboration

Boskalis’s next-generation Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) SEAWAY is the result of a close collaboration between Boskalis, Royal IHC and Bakker Sliedrecht — combining decades of dredging expertise with cutting-edge shipbuilding technology and system integrator expertise. The vessel is equipped with a full diesel-electric installation, Azipods™ propulsion, an optimised hull design and advanced automation systems. In addition, SEAWAY is being prepared to operate on methanol. The vessel is designed to set new standards in efficiency, manoeuvrability, and environmental performance when she enters service in mid-2026.

Besides standard vessel systems (such as fire detection, PAGA, and Emergency Shut Down systems), Bakker Sliedrecht is also providing an extensive engine package with generators, transformers, engines and HV and LV multi-drives and designing and assembling the complete power distribution system. As system integrator, Bakker Sliedrecht is also responsible for the electronic installation and lighting system on board.
