The largest CO₂ capture plant in Europe is located at waste processing company Twence in Hengelo, the Netherlands. This unique facility captures 100,000 tons of CO₂ from flue gases annually and converts it into reusable raw materials. In doing so, Twence makes a valuable contribution to climate goals and the circular economy. The CO₂ capture facility was built by SLB Capture. As Twence’s long-term maintenance partner for both high- and low-voltage systems, Omexom was asked to manage the electrical infrastructure.
Smart Grid integration from a distance: power supply over 230 Meters
A particular challenge was the limited space near the main power supply, which meant the new facility had to be built across the road on the opposite side of the site.
Mateusz van Strien, Business Unit General Manager Omexom in Assen: “We coordinated the installation of the new high- and low-voltage network, provided the installation manager, and supervised the testing of the entire system.”
