Omexom and Verkerk build the new high-voltage station Rozenburg-Zuid

The new high-voltage station Rozenburg-Zuid will change the future of the energy provision in the region. This project is essential to continue providing Haarlemmermeer and its surroundings with sufficient electricity in the future.

At the moment, the electricity grid is blocked and there is an electricity traffic jam, known as grid congestion. At that point there is not enough electricity available for new connections of houses and businesses. They are put on a waiting list, and that can have major consequences. The construction of new houses is subject to delays, and businesses cannot expand, become more sustainable, or invest. It also means that wind turbines and solar panels cannot discharge their electricity.

Omexom was awarded by TenneT to build the station and to fit all the systems that are essential to the operation of the station. To this end, Omexom works together with Verkerk on the electrical and mechanical system in the buildings.

During the construction, we strive to limit CO2 emissions as much as possible, so we work with electrical equipment, such as shovels, boom lifts, and tower cranes. The drainage pumps work on the sustainable fuel HVO100.  By using HVO100, we emit 142 tonnes less CO2 than with conventional diesel. This compares to the amount absorbed by 6,800 trees during a year.

That is how Omexom and Verkerk work on the new high-voltage station that prepares the region’s energy provision for the future.
