AVR Rozenburg specialises in processing residual waste, which it converts into energy and raw materials for households and businesses. AVR aims to create a clean world, where everything is used completely. AVR supplies electricity to the grid, steam to businesses, and city heat to approximately 160,000 households.

A devastating fire on its site caused enormous damage in 2023, particularly in the energy plant. It meant that the supply of steam and electricity was out of action for a long time.

AVR selected Cegelec Fire Solutions for the reconstruction project, where securing the complex waste bunker and safety were paramount. Cegelec Fire Solutions designed and installed a certified foam extinguishing system in the household waste bunker and the domestic fuel oil (HBO) tanks. The system comprises a pump room with 4 automatic foam generators.

In 2024, AVR was able to commission the larger part of the plant and has resumed converting residual waste into electricity and steam.
