Actemium and SALD join forces: sALD technology ready for the market

The Eindhoven company SALD develops machines that apply ultrathin coatings with spatial atomic layer deposition (sALD). This new application of the proven ALD principle from semicon opens the door to much broader market segments. With this technology, SALD focuses on improving next-gen solar cells, protecting humidity-sensitive applications (OLED, Perovskite solar cells, high-end packaging), and on performance improvements of batteries and electrolysers.

SALD developed and built the first prototype of the ALD platform and in Actemium it found a partner who considered the issues and helped to develop the industrialisation required to market this technology. A first prototype ALD platform was developed and built fully in-house at SALD.

Actemium builds the electrical panels, but also electronic components and provides all the cabling. These components are ready for assembly and fully tested, so that everything can be fitted effortlessly in the sALD machine at SALD.  What SALD can do and design itself, it does. And when extra specialisation or capacity is required, Actemium operates as a flexible extension. For example connections between the panels, but also to sensors and actuators in the machine are made together. It is a successful cooperation, where SALD can build on the expertise and network of Actemium. All of it adds up to an important step towards a successful market launch.
